FISHGUARD and Goodwick made a terrific start to the national Swalec Bowl final against Rhondda Valley side Wattstown at the Millennium Stadium, but the Division Four South East champions hit back to shatter the Pembrokeshire dream. The Seagulls were deservedly 10 points ahead with three minutes of the first half remaining – but 10 minutes of mayhem either side of half-time saw them concede crucial points as their hopes were dashed. Wattstown, who are nicknamed The Ducks, were awarded an early penalty in the fourth minute for hands in at a ruck, but outside half Ian Jones pushed wide from some 30 metres allowing for the angle.The Seagulls were then awarded penalty in the ninth minute, but outside half James Griffiths missed from out on the left hand touchline. Two minutes later, Griffiths made amends with a superb 35 metre penalty that gave the 1,200 Seagulls supporters plenty to cheer about.
